Cheenu group of companies under the leadership of Mr. P. Moorthy was started as a steel trading company in the year of 1973, involved in steel scrap trading for the past 40 years. A decade back ventured into In-House Steel Production by setting up a steel foundry. Currently we have the largest steel billet- manufacturing unit in Coimbatore with a capacity of 8000 tonnes per month. We are one of the largest importers of steel crap, which we use for both for internal consumption in steel foundry and also for trading purposes. as a part of a backward integration, we have started ship-breaking operations.

Coimbatore being the hub for textiles, the group also has significant presence in textile industry. We currently own three textiles spinning units involved in manufacturing yarn. All units combined, we currently have 20 OE (open-ended) frames. In one of our textile unit in Sathyamangalam, we have also commissioned a one of its kind 2MW solar power plant for captive consumption.

As a part of diversification, we ventured into consumer electronics industry and are into distribution of Samsung products. We are the sole mega distributor of Samsung Consumer Electronics (all products except phones and IT) business for nine districts spanning from Coimbatore till Hosur, catering to more than 350 dealers.

In 2011, we diversified into Agro products with export of dry coconut with export to Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In 2016, we started exporting coconut oil in bulk packaging. We export refined coconut oil and crude coconut oil to every continent in the world. We are now one of the largest exporter of coconut products fron India including fresh coconut, dry coconut and coconut oil.

As you may notice, we are a well-diversified and have significant presence in whichever industry we are present. Overall, the group turnover would exceed Rs.3 billion.
